Friday Favorite

Wow...it's been a while.
I've gotten myself involved in other projects that have taken my time away from mombling, BUT, I just discovered a really cool site...and it's FREE!
And...to top it all off I figured out how to make my own button for my blog!  YIPEE!
So, I thought I would share the knowledge:

First, you've got to check out this site.  Picnik is a photo editing site, and it's awesome!  I just tried it for the first time today.  I've been trying to learn how to do things with Photoshop, but I'm not that technically savvy, so I think Picnik will be a good option until I can really learn how to use Photoshop.

(Had to say that first, because I used Picnik to create the image for my button)

Now, on to button making:
I must admit that I did not figure any of this out on my own...I stumbled some great directions on another blog, so basically, I'll be reiterating what she has said...but I will add a couple of hints that she left out of her post...

1.  Create an image for your button (whether in Photoshop, PS Elements, Picnik, etc.)  The image should be about 125 pixels x 125 pixels...a little bigger or smaller is fine, but generally speaking 125 pixels is a good size.

To make your button original, try using digi-scrapbook paper.  I uploaded some free digi-scrap paper to the Picnik site and then embellished a little bit to create my button.  Check out this blog for a little more direction on actually using Picnik to create your button.

2.  Once you've created your image, you need to upload it to a photo sharing site like Flickr or Photobucket or something like that so that you can get a URL for the image.

3.  Step 1 and 2 done, now you just need to get your button onto your blog (the following directions are taken from A Heart For Home Blog, and will include a text box so that people can copy & paste your button into their blog)  SO.....

In Blogger under Layout, choose to add a gadget. Choose HTML/Javascript. In the title box, type something like "Get My Button". Now simply copy and paste the code below into the text box. Replace the colored information with your blog's information and your button's web address (for more information on how to get a web address for your button click here). Save and position the button where you want it. Save your changes and view your blog.

*Sorry everyone...it wouldn't let me post the code properly (see, I told you I wasn't smart enough to figure out how to do code on my own), so go here to get the code!

**The image web address can be found at whatever site you uploaded your image to (Flickr, Photobucket, etc.)

The result should look something like this (with your own image obviously)...

BLOG TITLE

Now, go have fun creating your own button so that everyone can link to your blog!
